Jeevan Deep offers education and health services to low-caste rural communities in and around Bodhgaya. The BDA funds its health care service, while donated funds also support infrastructure - including wells for clean water - and training in skills such as sewing and animal husbandry.
Standing with the community through COVID-19
The pandemic had a compounding effect on already challenging conditions. Through it all, Jeevan Deep - with the BDA's help - kept providing essential supplies to the community: food and blankets distributed to families and children, masks sewn at the centre, and health-awareness camps run wherever they were needed.
At Christmas 2020, staff and volunteers gathered around 100 children from the village for a special day of celebration, blankets and shared meals. Through the monsoon and the difficult months that followed, the health clinics and sewing groups continued their work.
